General information, not professional advice
Our guides, shortlists and notes are general information for home use. They aren't professional, veterinary, medical, legal or food-safety advice, and they can't account for your animals, your land or your kitchen.
- Food safety. For canning, curing and other food preservation, follow current tested recipes and directions from the USDA, the National Center for Home Food Preservation or your local Cooperative Extension office.
- Animal health. For a sick or injured animal, or before changing feed or medication, talk to a veterinarian.
- Tools and equipment. Read and follow each maker's instructions and safety warnings.
